New Serjeants of Dragonslaire

On 10 December, 2011, Dragonslaire gained two new Serjeants. THL Madrun y Gwehyddes has won the right to hold the title of Courtier of the Arts and Sciences of Dragon’s Laire and THL Jahnkin de Leeuw has won the right to hold the title of Sarjeant of Dragon’s Laire. They will henceforth join Serjeant Alaricus Simmonds in the ranks of the Serjeantry.

All three Serjeants have been given their current year's quests.

Baron Arontius writes: "THL Jahnkin de Leeuw’s Quest is the documentation of the lineages of the Knights of An Tir, which will require much investigation and conversation with those of the martiallate community. In this Quest he will learn much of how the Knights have achieved the prowess and abilities they possess. He will gain perspective on how knowledge is learned and passed to the next generation and how all the Knights are interconnected. In addition, we have given him an extra challenge in that we have consulted with a group of Knights of whom we requested that THL Jahnkin seek out in particular. For these Knights, THL Jahnkin will have to earn their lineage from them in combat. Upon completion they will annotate this learning in a book of recording to be given to Jahnkin. The Knights who have initially agreed to this request are: Sir Rauokinn Eyverska Starradottir; Count Sir Brendan Shimmeringstar; Sir Richard Fitzallen; Sir Octamasades; Sir Fiach CuCool Ulfredsson; Sir Martin le Harper; and His Majesty, Duke Sir Thorin Njalsson."

Baron Arontius continues: "The Quest of THL Madrun y Gwehyddes is the creation of a scholarly paper on the subject of card weaving with the intention of publication. The initial thought is to publish this paper as a publication of the Compleat Anachronist. But publishing in some official medium is the ultimate goal. Our addition to this Quest was the requirement that Madrun learn a new art form in parallel to the creation of this paper, in which Her Ladyship chose applique. Keep in mind that Her Ladyship is also the Co-Chair for June Faire 2012, as well as the Baronial Arts and Sciences Minister. This Quest will be daunting, even for someone as supremely intelligent and driven as Madrun."

THL Alaricus also has a quest, as the Baron explains: "THL Alaricus Simmonds’ Quest for the next six months is to learn to shoot archery from horseback. His Lordship has not ridden a horse in many years, so the first challenge to overcome will be to relearn riding a horse in the first place. Alaricus is already a formidable archer, well known in An Tir for his abilities with a bow. But to combine the two will be a real challenge. Such a challenge that we decided that no additional requirements should be added to it."
