Live steel weapons are thrown at wooden rounds and straw bales. Sound fun? Come try your hand at the art of Thrown Weapons. Expert instruction is provided for new throwers at all practices. Seasoned throwers can record scores at all published practices.
Thrown Weapons practice is held May through Sept, weather permitting. Currently there are no practices scheduled as it is past September. Check back towards Spring, 2012, for news of upcoming practices.
Thrown Weapons Competitions are held at various events in An Tir during the Tourney Season.
Dragon’s Laire events featuring Thrown Weapons include June Faire and Last Chance. Our Thrown Weapons Champion is determined by skills at target scenarios.

Scoring in thrown weapons involves 20 axe, 20 knife, and 20 spear throws. Axe and knife are thrown from 10 feet at a wooden round.
The target face has 3 inch, 8 inch and 14 inch concentric circles. Three points awarded for cutting the 3 inch circle.
The Spear is thrown at a straw bale placed 15 feet from the line. An 8 ½ by 11 inch piece of cardboard with a 3 inch circle is placed in the upper half of the bale. Scoring is 3 points for cutting the 3 inch circle, 2 points for cutting the cardboard and 1 point for hitting the bale. The highest possible score for all three weapons is 180 points. Our Thrown Weapons Champion is determined by skills at standard target and novel scenarios.

Thrown Weapons Practices ended for the season with the close of September. The rains have come and it is time to put up the axes, knives and spears with a coat of oil to keep the rust at bay. Moving Thrown Weapons P ractice to the Fighter Practice location worked well. We had a few regulars getting in scores that will put Dragon's Laire solidly in the Top Ten. We were also able to get enough Interkingdom Thrown Weapons Competition scores in to assure that An Tir will take first place in Axe, Knife and Spear in the Knowne World. We had a larger number of walk ups that tried their hand and had some fun. All in all, in was a marvelous season. Thrown Weapons Practices will resume in the Spring as the weather improves.
June Faire was well attended from the Thrown Weapons side of the event. Throwers turned up on Friday eve to play. On Sat we had 23 ++ gentles turn out (not everyone signed in). For those not in the TW world "know", this is one of the highest turn out I have seen. At 1 PM we had a series of "novelty" competitions with 18 players on the field. Cedric Wlfraven won with a score of 15 points, followed closely by Etole' Marchant and our Thrown DL Weapons Champion, Conall, with 14 points each, and Jamie of Shittemwood with 13 points. On Sunday, we had 14 gentles on the Range.
A notable new thrower, Derek Moritz, who threw his first axe on Sat, scored a 124 on Sat and a 128 on Sunday. This puts him in Top Ten territory right off the batt. I wonder what his scores will be when he gets good? Wow!
