Marshallate Mews

Baronial Marshal:  Lord Oliver Tarney

Persona development in the SCA concentrates on the noble classes. Members of this class (sometimes called the knightly classes) were responsible for the protection of their own lands and people from bandits and outside aggressors and usually owed military support to an overlord or other allies. This focus has made the martial arts perhaps the most visible part of our organization. At right; Our former Marshal instructs fighters at Junefaire 2005

What started in a backyard party with motorcycle helmets for helms and garbage can lids for shields has evolved into a wide variety and complexity of martial pursuits representing combat styles of the Middle Ages. All activities are subject to strict safety guidelines. It is the Marshall's primary duty to enforce these standards for the safety of both the fighters and the spectators.  And while bruises are common and even proudly displayed, serious injuries remain rare.

What Where and When
Fight Practice Armoured, Light and Rapier fighters. Tuesdays 6-8 PM at the Seaside Church located at 1318 Park Avenue in Bremerton. The site is adjacent to Evergreen Park  Check out map

Dragon's Laire holds weekly fighter practice every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Seaside Church located at 1318 Park Avenue in Bremerton. The site is adjacent to Evergreen Park.(Check out map to Seaside Church here)  If you are interested in fighting or marshalling, this is the place to begin your journey.  For fighting:  Bring armor (if you have it), and we have a few loaner pieces in case you need a bit here or there.  It is our goal within the Barony to assist everyone in any way possible. Our primary fighter practice includes armored, rapier, boffer and junior heavy.

Besides, doesn't everyone bring weapons when they drop by their friend's home for a visit?   (At left Our former Chief Archer in action at May Crown AS XXXVII (2002). While You must be 18 to participate as an Armored fighter or Rapier Fighter, opportunities exist for our younger members to get into the action. See Youth Combat
