Our Annual Local Events

The Barony of Dragon's Laire supports and hosts a number of activities throughout the year.  Events and other activities are open to all, however, certain conditions, such as fees, appropriate garb and mode of behavior may be required.

Candlemas

Most commonly scheduled for early February, Arts and Sciences take center stage with the Champion's competition, followed by feasting. Other featured activities include games and socializing. View details about the most recent Candlemas.  Next Candlemas - February 2009

June Faire

June Faire, always scheduled for the first weekend in June, is the Barony's premier event.  It is open to the public and attracts a large attendance from both the SCA populace and the modern public. In addition, this event features Heavy and Rapier, Equestrian, Thrown Weapons and Archery competitions. Other activities include shopping at Medieval style merchants, Arts and Science displays and demonstrations, Court, Bardic performances and a wide variety of martial activities and other entertainments. Baronial Picnic

Summer Picnic and Social - A laid-back day of good eats, good friends and maybe a few good bowshots. Next picnic August 2008

Last Chance

Last Chance features all of Dragon's Laire's Marshallate championships (Heavy, Rapier, Archery, Thrown Weapons, Junior Heavy, and Equestrian). Yule

A holiday atmosphere fills the hall at our annual Yule celebration held in December.  The event also features Bardic Championship, feasting and other indoor past times. For complete and updated details of the upcoming Yule click here. Next Yule - Dec. 6, 2008

Other Events

Sarjeant's Trials Generally held in the Fall. See the Baroness for more information. Next trials to be determined

Master Ed - The  Noble Horse is the theme of this event. Primary competition is for the Baronial Equestrian Championship, but other fun and games are enjoyed.  For more details on the competition e-mail Our Equestrian Officer HE Murakami Tsuruko Sensei  

Information on additional events such as Sargeant's Trials and other sponsored events is upcoming. Throughout each month, a number of more informal activities are scheduled in the Barony. Just like any other organization we have a business meeting as well as fight practice, Arts and science night, Bardic meetings, Costuming guild, Culinary/Spiritmaker'sGuild, European Dance, Heraldry night, and other associated activities. We are always searching for a few good autocrats! Do you want to autocrat but don't want do it alone your first time out? We can help team you with someone who has auto-crated before!
