Barony of Dragon's Laire
A&S Day Camp

The Barony of Dragon’s Laire A&S Day Camp is almost here!

Date: October 17th, 2009
Location: Silverdale Community Center, 9729 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale, WA 98383
Time: 8AM to 3:30PM

Come join in the A&S fun during our semi-annual A&S Day Camp. We’ll be holding it in the Silverdale Community Center where there is plenty of room, plenty of tables and chairs, plenty of outlets, good lighting, and a kitchen! There’s also a stage for those who are musically inclined or want to have space to dance!

Please bring your projects to share, get advice on, or to show others with a hands-on how-to  demo! Many of us are planning on bringing such diverse arts as weaving, metal smithing, sewing, puppets, culinary, and other excellent A&S subjects. Here’s your chance to see what others in the Barony are up to and perhaps pick up a new obsession… er… hobby!

There will be a very informal “Largess Discussion” hosted by Tsuruko Sensei in which we will share ideas on what makes for good largess. There will also be an informal round-table discussion, hosted by Dame Gwen and myself, on the preliminaries for our Grand Ithra that we are hoping to host next Spring. Lastly, for those of you thinking about entering upcoming championships who were not able to make the “No Fear Documentation” classes last month, we’ll have a short discussion on that as well as advice on where to get started with an A&S entry; sources, websites, and lending libraries that are available.

We’ll also be having guests! The inestimable Countess Elizabeth from the Shire of Wyewood is planning on bringing herself, some friends, and bits of her fabulous library to share! She’ll have books with her that are both incredibly difficult to find and are great resources. Definitely a not-to-be-missed opportunity!

All of the above is just a sampling of what will be happening… so come join us to see everything!

In conjunction with the A&S Day Camp Master Ralg will be hosting an "open shop" in my woodworking shop. The hours will be the same as the Day Camp.

Bring a project, drop by and talk, whatever you want. Spend 5 minutes or as much of the day as you wish. Go back and forth from the Day Camp as often as you wish.

Dress warmly as the shop is only "causally" heated.

From the Community Center. Drive north on Silverdale Way, until you get to the Keyport-Bangor Road (SR 308), turn right towards the town of Keyport for about 1.8 miles. Turn right unto the Brownsville Hwy (the turn is just before the Keyport Bridge, the new road is labeled, BremertonBrownsville, etc). After .7 miles turn left onto South Keyport Road (this is the first left). Go up the hill to the first junction, which will be NE Trail Way and turn left. Warning, this road is only a lane-and-half wide. Turn right on the first road, which is Blackberry Lane NE and park at the large three car garage-shop on your right.

Driving time is under 15 minutes
