The Barony of Dragon's Laire is hosting a School Supply Drive at June Faire!
My lord husband, HL Richard Dragun is stationed in Iraq . The Chief Petty Officers Association (of which Richard is a member) is doing a drive for much needed school supplies for the children of Iraq . In addition, Lady Jenae, who is a teacher in our Faire Barony pointed out a the April business meeting that with budget cuts and high cost of living, local schools were also in need of school supplies.
The Wyverns, being the service order in the Barony of Dragon’s Laire, are sponsoring a School Supply Drive at June Faire. A station will be set up to collect donated school supplies over the course of the weekend (probably near the Dragon's Laire Pavillion). When June Faire is over, the supplies will be divided up – some will be shipped to the CPO Association in Iraq , and some will be delivered to local schools in Dragon’s Laire.
The Barony of Dragon’s Laire will be paying for the postage to ship the Iraq supplies. We will provide the non-profit tax ID numbers so that donated supplies can be claimed as charitable contributions.
The Iraqi children need:
- Pencils
- Notebook Paper
- Primary school "learning to write" paper
- Construction/craft paper
- Spiral notebooks or theme books
- Rulers, compasses, protractors
- Erasers
- Pencil sharpeners (the small plastic ones)
(Note: the boxes we will be using for shipping are 12”x12”, so nothing larger that that size please!)
The local schools can use just about any supplies that we can collect. In addition to the above list, consider:
- Calculators (with square root key)
- Crayons
- Colored Markers
- Dry erase markers
- Colored pencils
- Red and Black ball point pens
- Highlighters
- Glue Sticks
- White Glue
- Dry erasers
- Construction paper
- Copy paper
- Sizzors
- Felt tip markers
