Fire in the hole
Pit to Ponder "We had an absolutely perfect day for the firing, no wind at all,
relatively cool (as summer goes). We waited til evening to light it off,
good thing. That fire was hot! We had to stay 20 feet away until it burned
down to coals. Then we sat and watched it for 4 hours, covered it with a
big sheet of metal, and let it cool for about 36 hours. It was still warm
when we unloaded the pots on Sunday morning. All my pots made it without
breaking - Morgaine had two that broke, but with as many
as she had in there, the survival percentage was pretty good. And we had
some really interesting results."
