A JuneFaire Blessing
We had an interesting incident at June Faire as the autocrat team sat and
enjoyed the final sunset over the site before we went on our way.
We saw a bird, now the story...
It was a fine and glorious day on Thursday, people showed up on time and the set
up began promptly.
Not long after we arrived, a lone Bald Eagle flew in low over the site from the
water to the trees. You could see its eyes.
Over 1300 people came and camped with us during the weekend and celebrated our
20th anniversary. More than 200-300 day trippers came by to play as well. The
moderns came in droves, by the thousands we guesstimate over 15,000 (some say it
may have been 20,000).
Alas, the time came to break camp and wrap another June Faire up in the annals
of Baronial history.
The torches were packed, the bales stacked and the autocrats cracked...and the
sun was setting over the water.
And then,
A lone Bald Eagle retraced it earlier journey and flew in low over the site from
the trees to the water. You could see its eyes.
Setting into its year long journey until June Faire XXI--were we expect its
return from the water.
The site was blessed by one of Gods greatest creatures, the people were
excellent and thank you all for your giving and sacrifice to help make June
Faire XX a memorable event for many.
For me, the Eagle heading into the sunset was my last impression of the event
and one I will treasure in my heart, knowing that we did the best job
we could do and had a great time doing it.
